It’s time for round 2 of The Funniest Mom Blogs on the Internet (you can find Round 1 here) and these are some of my favorite posts of the entire last year because you deserve the best. Happy reading!
But first – guess what? I’m in a new book. A new old book. You loved I Just Want To Pee Alone so much, we’re bringing it back for more. I can officially show you the book cover today and announce that it’ll be available March 27, just in time for Spring Break pee-break reading. My story is about the biggest thing that drives me crazy about my boys – and apparently that “thing” will only get bigger and bigger and bigger as they do. No, not THAT.
Scroll to the bottom of the post for links to each and every awesome blogger with a story in the new I STILL Just Want To Pee Alone (aka ISJWTPA). Get excited. It’s an amazing group of writers!
Now on to Funniest Mom Blog Roundup, Volume 2. Not surprisingly many of these posts are also by ISJWTPA authors. Cuz they da bomb.
Don’t Vajazzle Your Vajizzle Jaggle and 20 Other Things I Wish I’d Known When I was 20 – This is one of mine. I wrote it for my niece on her 20th birthday and she says it’s one of her favorite gifts ever even though it’s just words and not a cool new electronic device. I wish I could’ve given myself this gift when I was 20 – it would’ve saved me a LOT of trouble. Pass it along to the young girls and women in your life. They’ll glean something from it, I promise – even if it’s only not to hot glue rhinestones to their private parts.
Jitter Glitter or Shitty Things to Give. This piece from AK Turner made me laugh so hard but also shake my head in disbelief. I find it hard to believe any teacher would send a bag of glitter home with each of their students. I’d probably just pull my kid out and move to another school pronto.
Emoji’s for Parents – How Not to Swear Around Kids. Kim at Let Me Start By Saying (also appears in ISJWPTA) really summed up the particular emotions you feel as a parent in this post, and put together handy emoji’s just for us because if there’s anything parents need, it’s a shorthand.
Kidioms – 3 Idioms Rewritten for Parents – If you like a quick, funny graphic read and particularly if you enjoy jokes about how bad stepping on Legos hurts, go immediately to Hollow Tree Ventures (also in ISJWTPA) and read her Kidioms.
I Can’t Handle my Farm Share – Do you like the idea of a Farm Share? I so totally love the IDEA but the reality of it would be more like this one by Fordeville Diaries (also in ISJWTPA).
Goody Bag Wars – I despise when people hand out goody bags full of little pieces of plastic shit that will just end up clogging my toilet and getting stuck between the couch cushions 2.1 seconds after my kid gets home. Herd Management hits it on the nail.
An Open Letter to Babies of Hipsters – My girl Nicole Leigh Shaw (ISJWTPA) lays it down for babies of Hipsters. This one really made me laugh because my former neighborhood was so hipstery, they thought I was total white bread just because my pants and top didn’t completely clash whenever I left the house. I feel for little Atticus and Clementine. I really do.
Guest Napper – 193 Plop into Plank – Naps Happen has been one of my favs for a long time. There’s nothing that reminds me of when my 7yo was little as much as checking out the ridiculous positions some kids fall asleep in. This one is full out planking.
This Letter Stopped Me In My Tracks – Did you know People I want To Punch In The Throat (creator of IJWTPA so naturally in ISJWTPA) had a sweet side? I do because I know her personally (yes, I’m bragging) but not everyone gets to see it often. I loved this post from early in the school year because you get to see her softer side but also because it’s just an incredible perspective on why your kids might seem to be misbehaving around the house when they first start school. It totally changed how often I screamed at mine (for about a week).
Momz Club – this is the most inspired mom’s hideout I’ve ever seen and what a great repurposing of wine corks by the Divine Secrets of a Domestic Diva.
Boy Mom in the Girls Department – One time (okay, every time) I went shopping and drifted over into the girls’ department instead of where I should’ve been which was the boring boys’ department. And then I cried on the floor and asked for ice cream. If you have boys, go read it. You’ll understand.
I wish I knew who’s graphic this was but I haven’t been able to track them down. But I love it and I know you need a clock like this too.
I hope you enjoyed my funniest mom blogs on the internet roundup. These ladies keep me laughing all the time and I know they will you too. If you like this, follow Toulouse and The Best of Mom Blogs on Pinterest where I pin my my favorites from around the internet.
If you want to read some more funny shit from moms just trying to survive you should buy IJWTPA and read it so you’ll be ready when ISJWTPA releases in March!
