On Thanksgiving morning, I came down the back stairs at my in-laws house to find my mother-in-law frosting cupcakes in the kitchen. There were quite a few unfrosted ones on the bar and a few with what looked like chocolate icing sitting next to her.
I said, “What kind of cupcakes are you making?”
She said, “Turkey cupcakes.”
Gulp.
Even if I wasn’t pregnant, I’m pretty sure the thought of that would’ve made me gag.
If you knew my mother-in-law and the incredible amount of eating restrictions she places on herself and how apt she is to urge others to try her healthy concoctions, you would know that it is not out of the realm of possibility that she might try to get us to eat turkey cupcakes.
Luckily, this is what she meant.
Regular cupcakes that just LOOK like turkeys.
She just has her own way of talking, my MIL.
She’s always entertaining, in more ways than one, as you can tell from the clever turkey cupcakes.
