Is one of your New Year’s resolutions to go back to school and get a degree? Well, good for you, but I can’t help you there.
However, if your educational goals are a little looser and you’d like to wrap up your “degree” in a weekend and spend most of your time partying with new friends, I can hook you up.
I’m on the faculty of a brand new kind of blog conference happening this June. The BlogU Conference is all about how to be successful in blogging by finding your tribe.
Here’s a little secret. If you’re reading my blog, you probably heard of me sometime in the year 2013, yes? Guess, what? I had already been blogging for at least 2 years. 2 years in which my highest number of page views in one day climbed all the way to 219. I think I had about 17 email subscribers (hint: I have 16 family members) at the time. And then something magical happened. I found my tribe. And because I had these amazing women to learn from, bounce ideas off of, support and be supported by, things changed fast.
In a little over a year since finding my tribe, my blog has grown significantly, I actually get PAID to write and I write for or contribute to a growing list including The Huffington Post, In The Powder Room and Bonbon Break. And (this is a big AND for me), I’ve been featured in 2 best-selling books, “I Just Want to Pee Alone,” and “You Have Lipstick on Your Teeth.”
Don’t get me wrong here though. This is not about stats. At least not for me. For me, it’s about two main things. 1. Finding success as a writer and blogger – however you define success and 2. making very real, very significant connections with other bloggers who have not only helped me with that success but become my friends.
Enough about me. What do YOU think of ME? Kidding. Kidding. Let’s talk about you.
On June 6-8, at Notre Dame of Maryland University, the BlogU Conference will go down for the very first time. You’ll be able to meet successful bloggers and writers and get down and dirty, practical advice on how to gain more professional (and personal) satisfaction out of blogging. A big part of this unique conference is about helping you learn how to find your tribe and then helping each other grow and succeed. It’s NOT about spending a butt-load of money, though — the $249 registration fee covers your ticket, two nights lodging, plus all meals and campus social events.
It’s also NOT about being a small fish in a big pond like some other conferences — space is limited, so sessions will be small. The more intimate vibe guarantees you a more personal experience — more attention from conference “faculty,” and more time to hang out with everyone from conference leaders to other BlogU attendees and work towards finding your own tribe.
How often do you read another blogger’s work and think, “We could really be friends!”? Here’s your chance to find out. I want to hang out with you! So whether you’re a blogger, writer or just enough of a lover of blogs to want to come hang out with us, register now. Do you want to read about the crazy shit that went down behind the scenes at BlogU? Or do you want to be the one writing about it??
Yeah, that’s what I thought. See you in June.
