And The Accolades Come Pouring In

My first blogging award. I will love it and squeeze it and hold it forever.

I exaggerate.

But of course, you know that by now.

Just one accolade came in.

But it’s my first one ever.

And I love it and cherish it and will print out a copy of the award logo and sleep with it at night.

There’s just enough room in the bed between me, my massive body pillow and my husband, waaaaay on the other side of the bed.

He already hates my body pillow (its name is Merv; oh yes, I named it) so maybe if I let him sleep with my award, he’ll feel better.

No. No, I think I better sleep with it.

After all, it is MY award.

Oh man, I just realized I need to start an AWARDS PAGE now. Is it too early? Will my “Pay It Forward” award be lonely sitting there by itself? Does that just look pathetic to have an awards page with only one award on it?

Oh who cares? I’m starting an awards page.

IN YOUR FACE, I say.

So here’s how this happened.

There’s a blogger I love called Ninja Mom. She has that “je ne sais quoi” that I love in a mommy blogger.

For all of you who do not speak Le French, je ne sais quoi means “I don’t know what.”

But that’s bullshit. I do know what she has that I like. I just wanted to work in some French so you’d think I was sophisticated in addition to award-winning.

What she has is this. She’s funny. She’s honest. She’s smart. All while somehow wrangling four kids.

I like those things in a blogger. Maybe because I like those things in anyone.

And although she has massive amounts of readers — enough so that if they got together in a big bunch and sat on my readers, you’d hear a small splat — just enough to make you go, “Did you hear something?” and then there’d no longer be any evidence I’d ever had any readers at all…she reads my blog and likes it enough to recommend it to her readers by bestowing upon me the “Blogger Pay It Forward” award.

Ninja mom is, in fact, officially a TOP MOMMY BLOGGER on the internets. So that proves it. She knows what she’s talking about.

And she’s talking about ME!

But back to ME. And my AWARD.

I’ll let you know when the ceremony is and on what channel it will be broadcast. I’m pretty excited about getting a new dress, giving a completely brilliant yet unrehearsed acceptance speech and coming home with a sparkling crystal trophy for our mantel.

I exaggerate.

But of course, you know that by now.
