My Little Picassos

clx_ick_awards_logo-blue-610x331What happens when you turn your little artists loose in the yard with paint?  What starts out as artistic quickly turns to just plain icky.

On the first pretty Spring day, I disrobed the kids without a lot of forethought and ejected them from the house with a rainbow’s worth of finger paint.  I knew they’d make a mess with the paint and I was okay with that.

#ickiesWhat I didn’t think about was the dirt and grime that would end up embedded in the paint on their hands and bodies … and then end up inside my house.  I may not be (okay, I’m definitely not) the best housekeeper around but even I draw the line at grimy multi-colored hand and finger prints leading from my back door to the bathtub.

Although I’m pretty lazy when it comes to cleaning, so maybe I considered for just a moment throwing some frames up on the walls and calling it art …

Clorox #ickiesLuckily, I was able to clean the mess up easily with my little pop-up container of Clorox wipes – the lazy housewife’s friend.  As a mom of boys, I’ve got them stashed all over the house.  The one in the boys’ bathroom gets the most use and I don’t think I have to tell you why.  (cough, terrible aim, cough cough)

Between the boys and the dog, I could probably keep telling you stories like these all day long.  I bet you’re thinking of a story of your own and simultaneously laughing and cringing right now.

Clorox wants to make sure we can ALL laugh through the mess, so they’ve joined with the awesome Chicago improv troupe The Second City Communications for the Clorox Ick Awards this Wednesday, April 9 from 6-10 p.m. ET. The #ickies will be the messiest awards show you’ll ever actually want to attend.

Don’t miss the party!  Follow @Clorox and then join in when The Second City Communications turns tweets into #ickies video skits.  Nominate your own funny icky moment now (share it using #ickies) and claim your own share of $2500 in prizes!

Don’t forget to sign up for Clorox’s email newsletter to learn more about how they can help you laugh through the mess.

  1. Oh my gosh, I have so many gross moments. I have to submit one because they are far enough in the past that they actually seem funny now. Not so much then.
